T-Mobile to debut Android handset-Rumours.....

SORRY NO PICS.....

If you're hanging back on purchasing a smartphone to see what the chaps over at Google can come up with, you just might be in luck.

The guys over at BetaNews broke the story late last week that “briefed sources” are reporting T-Mobile as the first carrier of the Android-based smartphones, with the HTC Dream rumoured to be the first official handset in the deal.

Sadly, both Google and T-Mobile are keeping mum on the rumours for the moment, with the only corroboration – if it can be called such – coming from a rather low-quality YouTube clip purporting to demonstrate the HTC Dream smartphone running Google's Android platform. Given the quality, however, it could be almost any handset running almost any OS – it's that blurry.

With Google having already committed to an Android-based handset by the end of 2008 with the statement that “some of our partners are publicly stating that they plan to ship Android phones in the fourth quarter”, the rumours don't seem that far-out. If O2 isn't for you, and you don't much fancy the iPhone anyway, you might not have too long to wait to see what Larry and Sergey's little company have cooked up for the mobile market.
